2017 AGM

Friday 1st December at Kokohinau Marae 10am

On the sunny morning of Friday December 9th, over 100 shareholders and whanau gathered at Kokohinau marae to attend the Putauaki Trust Annual General Meeting for 2017.  The hui was the first AGM officiated by Kiriwaitingi Rei in her new role as Chair, following the resignation of fellow Trustee Tiaki Hunia earlier in the year.  General Manager, John O’Brien paid tribute to Tiaki and thanked him on behalf of Shareholders and the Board for his service to Putauaki Trust for the past 10 years. Trustee’s Anaru Rangiheuea, Waaka Vercoe & Charlie Elliott were also acknowledged at the hui in recognition of the achievements made during their 30+ years of service.

Notable highlights of this year’s AGM included presentations on the Industrial Zone Development Project and Hapu partitions – both initiated constructive korero and the proposals were met with support and consent from shareholders. Another highlight was the acknowledgment from various recipients of 2017 grants who thanked the Trust for their support.

Kokohinau Marae in conjunction with the Papakainga Trust are in negotiations with Te Puni Kokiri and other Stakeholders to build up to ten  2-bedroom units on Papakainga/Marae land to accommodate flood victims.  The Edgecumbe whanau who have been displaced by the floods will be given first priority to these homes which will be completed by early 2018.
