Putauaki Trust is a Maori Land Trust based in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. It was formed on 3
rd
June 1981 and is currently owned by approximately 700 shareholders. The Shareholders are predominately descendants of the Pahipoto Hapu of Te Teko.
The principal activities of the Trust comprise Dairy and Cattle Farming, Cropping, Forestry, Geothermal Development, Leases and Investment.
The core purpose of the Trust is to grow the value of the Trusts’ Assets for the benefit of all the Shareholders taking into account sustainability and protection of its land. The Trust recorded audited total assets of $18 million at 30 June 2011.
The Trust is governed by a Board of Trustees. A General Manager is responsible for the day to day operations and affairs of the Trust. The GM liases with staff, farm managers and consultants and reports directly to the Board. The Trust has an Administration base in Kawerau.
